On Sunday, September 27, 2026, HĒRA Night welcomes South African DJ and producer Kasango to Toronto for a limited-capacity Afro House session at Harriet’s Rooftop, located at 1 Hotel Toronto.
Presented by HĒRA Social Events, the afternoon-to-sunset experience will bring together one of Afro House’s leading global artists, carefully selected Toronto support and panoramic views of the city skyline.
Kasango’s Toronto appearance marks an important moment for HĒRA Night: the transition from community-led gatherings and warehouse events into a new phase of international artist programming.

From Welkom to the Global Stage
Born Kasmario Thulani Ike Fankis, Kasango grew up in Welkom, a small city in South Africa’s Free State province.
He discovered house music at the age of 16 and quickly developed a passion for DJing, production and the wider culture surrounding electronic music. Growing up in South Africa exposed him to dance music from across the world while connecting him to the country’s own influential house music movement.
A defining moment came in 2009, when Kasango saw Black Coffee perform in his hometown.
Kasango has described the experience as the moment he knew he wanted to become a DJ. Watching a South African artist command an international-level stage helped transform his interest in music into a clear direction.
Years later, that early inspiration would become an important full-circle moment in his career.
Black Coffee, “Osama” and Kasango’s Breakthrough
In 2019, Black Coffee featured Kasango’s debut track, “One Night” featuring Jamie Fallon Smith, in his Appreciation Mix for that year.
The placement introduced Kasango’s production to a wider audience and brought recognition from one of the most influential figures in global house music.
Kasango continued that momentum with “Osama,” his collaboration with Grammy Award-winning South African artist Zakes Bantwini.
The record became a defining release in contemporary African electronic music and earned Kasango a BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune selection from Pete Tong. He later received the distinction again for his remix of London band TMPLE, further establishing his ability to move between Afro House, melodic influences and broader electronic sounds.
His international growth accelerated again in 2025 with “Fire Fire,” created alongside Shimza and AR/CO.
The collaboration generated more than 85 million streams during its first nine months and received Afro House Track of the Year recognition in Miami. Its combination of powerful percussion, memorable vocals and emotional progression helped introduce Kasango’s music to an even broader global audience.
More Than 120 Shows Across the Global Touring Circuit
Kasango’s success extends well beyond streaming numbers.
Over the past 12 months, he has performed more than 120 shows across the international touring circuit, building a reputation for the energy, warmth and visible passion he brings behind the decks.
His sets move naturally between rhythmic Afro House, melodic depth and larger emotional moments. The result is music that can translate across festivals and major clubs while still maintaining a close connection with the dance floor.
That balance is central to his appeal.
Kasango does not simply perform to an audience. His musical selection, personality and presence create an energy that extends beyond the DJ booth and becomes part of the room.
Why We Are Bringing Kasango to Toronto
When we consider an international artist for HĒRA Night, we look beyond follower counts, streaming totals and name recognition.
We look for artists with a clear musical identity, a genuine connection to their sound and the ability to shape an entire experience.
Kasango represents that combination.
His music is rooted in South African house culture while remaining open to melodic and international influences. His performances can feel expansive without losing the warmth and human connection that make Afro House so powerful.
That versatility made him a natural choice for this next chapter of HĒRA Night.
Rather than placing him inside a conventional nightclub environment, we wanted to create a setting that would complement his sound and allow the progression of the day to become part of the performance.
Why Harriet’s Rooftop Is the Right Setting
Located above downtown Toronto at 1 Hotel Toronto, Harriet’s Rooftop offers panoramic skyline views, indoor and outdoor areas and an intimate relationship between the DJ booth and the audience.
The event will begin during the afternoon, with Toronto support artists gradually establishing the musical direction of the day.
As the sun moves across the city, the music will transition into deeper rhythms and greater intensity, leading toward Kasango’s headline performance during the evening.
The rooftop setting creates a different experience from a traditional concert or club night. The artist, audience, music and city remain visibly connected throughout the event.
It is that sense of proximity that makes Harriet’s the right environment for Kasango’s Toronto appearance.
Tickets for Kasango at Harriet’s Rooftop are available through the official HĒRA Social Events event page and Eventbrite.
Afro House Above Toronto
Afro House has developed into one of the most internationally influential sounds in contemporary electronic music.
Its combination of percussion, melody, vocals and cultural storytelling has reached audiences across Africa, Europe, Canada, the United States and beyond.
Toronto provides a natural setting for that continued growth.
The city’s electronic music audience is shaped by a wide range of cultural and musical influences. Listeners regularly move between Afro House, house music, melodic genres and techno, creating space for programming that does not need to remain inside one narrowly defined scene.
Kasango at Harriet’s Rooftop was created for that audience: people who value strong music, distinctive settings and events that feel intentional from beginning to end.
From Community Gatherings to Warehouse Momentum
HĒRA Social Events began with smaller community-led gatherings centred around music, social connection and welcoming environments.
As the audience grew, our programming developed with it.
HĒRA Night emerged as the electronic music side of HĒRA Social Events, creating space for larger nightlife concepts while maintaining the principles behind the original gatherings: thoughtful programming, respectful crowds, carefully selected talent and venues with a clear identity.
Our AFTER PARTY warehouse series at Geary Avenue Warehouse became an important part of that development.
The series brought melodic house, melodic techno and techno into an industrial Toronto setting, with each event programmed as a complete musical progression rather than a collection of unrelated DJ sets.
Across the series, demand surpassed 1,000 RSVPs for events held in a venue with an approximate capacity of 300 guests.
That response demonstrated the appetite for independent electronic music experiences outside Toronto’s conventional nightclub formats. It also showed what can happen when the right venue, programming and community come together around a clear concept.
From Warehouse Events to International Programming
Kasango’s rooftop session builds naturally on that momentum.
It is not intended as a departure from what HĒRA has already created, but as the next step: bringing a globally touring artist into an environment that still feels personal, carefully programmed and connected to Toronto’s local music community.
Although this event is centred around Afro House, HĒRA Night is not a single-genre platform.
Our programming moves across:
Afro House
Melodic House
Progressive House
Melodic Techno
Techno
Each event is shaped around the artist and the environment best suited to their sound.
Some projects belong inside industrial warehouses. Others require intimate rooftops, late-night rooms or more immersive club settings. The format may change, but the focus remains the same: creating a coherent musical journey rather than applying the same formula to every booking.
Toronto artists remain an important part of that approach. Supporting lineups are selected based on musical identity, experience, technical ability and how each artist contributes to the progression of the event.

The Next Chapter of HĒRA Night
Kasango at Harriet’s Rooftop brings together a globally touring South African artist, Toronto-based support and one of the city’s most distinctive rooftop environments.
It also represents the direction in which HĒRA Night is continuing to grow.
Building on the response to our warehouse programming, we are developing new concepts and creating opportunities to present a wider range of local and international electronic artists in Toronto.
The intention is not simply to produce more events.
It is to continue building experiences in which the artist, venue, music and audience feel naturally connected.
On September 27, that next chapter begins above the Toronto skyline.
